  • Art walk - The bi-annual Downtown Monroe Art Walk started in October of 2007 by mother and daughter Joyce Rentschler and Andrea Price. The idea was to highlight the potential of the Downtown Business District and to draw attention to Monroe’s incredible local artists. Andrea and Joyce are both Monroe natives and, as children, spent many hours downtown on Franklin Street at Ray’s News Stand which was owned by Joyce’s father. Their vision is to help Monroe return to its previous small town hustle and bustle with a super friendly atmosphere. It was also equally important to them that this revitalization come from the people of Monroe. “We wanted to show everyone what two caring citizens could do for their city” says Joyce. “And that it could be fun,” added Andrea.
